Acid Alkaline Balance and Chronic Pancreatitis

What is the relationship between acid-base balance and pancreatitis? There is a direct link between these conditions. To say more, the acidity of the whole body can cause pancreatitis.

Everything we eat goes to the stomach and then half-digested food moves into the duodenum; first part of the small intestine. Here, pancreatic enzymes digest most of the proteins and carbohydrates and 90% of the fats.

Pancreatic enzymes can digest food only if the pH in the duodenum would be more than 7.0, so alkaline. You can eat the healthiest foods in the world, but if you don’t have an alkaline environment inside the duodenum, pancreatic enzymes can’t do their job and indigestion occurs.

Undigested food collects in the small intestine, ferments by bacteria and yeast causing gas, bloating, heartburn and cramps. Countless, toxic substances are produced during fermentation causing irritation, and internal toxicity. Our organism tries to get rid of this waste, but has only two directions for it: up to the mouth, or down to the anus. If the toxic undigested food rises, it leads to nausea, vomiting, heartburn, upper abdominal pain, which is very similar to symptoms of chronic pancreatitis. If this toxic undigested mass goes down, it leads to irritation, diarrhea, constipation, intestinal inflammation and lower abdominal pain, which is very similar to symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in people with chronic pancreatitis.

Acidic changes in the body’s acid-alkaline balance also produce significant changes in bile biochemistry. It is known that bile is produced by the liver and bile helps digest the fats. Also through the bile, liver removes fat-soluble toxins from the body such as heavy metals, cholesterol, alcohol, drugs, medicines, etc.

If the bile becomes acidic, the organism cannot properly digest fats, so fatty foods cause discomfort, fullness, pain and nausea. In addition, acid bile becomes extremely aggressive, a poisonous fluid that irritates the intestinal walls, causes ulcers and improper passage for bile; reflux

An aggressive mixture of acidic bile and acidic pancreatic juice mixed with toxic undigested food, due to jerky contractions of the walls of the intestine is thrown up into the stomach and esophagus. It is accompanied by severe and constant heartburn. This is a true picture of what happens in the gastrointestinal tract if the body becomes acidic, as well as pancreatic juice and bile.

What happens inside the pancreas in case of excess acidity and how is it related to pancreatitis? Some issues are particularly important to know about the pancreas. First problem, pancreas is an alkaline gland; pancreatic juice is the most alkaline solution in the body with a pH of 8.3-8.5.

In order for pancreatic juice to be alkaline, the pancreas takes bicarbonate and some minerals from the blood. If the whole body acidity occurs, the amount of bicarbonate and alkaline minerals in the blood decreases so the pancreas cannot take them and produce the normal, alkaline pancreatic juice. As a result, the pH of the pancreatic juice falls below 7.0; it sours.

Second problem, pancreas is the unique organ in our body. There is no such organ in our body as a pancreas that can create self-destruction. Pancreas is just one organ that can destroy itself. Normally, the pancreas produces very strong, digestive, pancreatic enzymes in an inactive form. In case of acidity, digestive, pancreatic enzymes begin to activate within the pancreas causing self-digestion; pancreatitis

Self-digestion leads to inflammation of the pancreatic tissue; it destroys structure and kills the pancreatic cells. By analogy, it is remarkably similar to a disaster in the nuclear reactor when it starts a meltdown and destroys itself. Disasters in Fukushima in Japan and Chernobyl in Ukraine are the example of self-destruction. Acidity kills the pancreas in many ways that I have described in books and articles. Therefore, healing actions in case of chronic pancreatitis must focus on acid-alkaline balance.

Many researches and medical articles claim that in chronic pancreatitis pancreatic juice becomes acidic; thus it makes an acidic environment in the duodenum. Acidity in duodenum means low digestion. What should be done? Restoring the normal acid-alkaline balance in the body is crucial for all people with indigestion, specifically for people with chronic pancreatitis.

From school chemistry, we know that to neutralize the acidity, alkaline minerals and bicarbonate are needed. Our body cannot produce these substances; therefore we must obtain them naturally from alkaline foods, healing mineral water, cellular magnesium-potassium supplements.

European doctors have known this for hundreds of years. All over Europe, there are many healthy mineral spas where people drink healing mineral water for various digestive disorders. The most researched is healing mineral water from the famous hot spring in Karlovy Vary, in the Czech Republic. For 500 years people have been using this unique gift of the earth.

250 years ago, doctors in Karlovy Vary suggested steaming the water to make authentic Karlovy Vary hot spring salt for home use. European doctors have proven that mineral water, prepared from authentic thermal spring salt from Karlovy Vary, has healing properties that are similar to spring water. According to medical research, Karlovy Vary healing mineral water is extremely useful for people with chronic pancreatitis, digestive and liver disorders.

How to make an idea if an organism is acidic or alkaline? If the body is too acidic, it tries to eliminate acidic substances through body fluids such as saliva and urine. Measuring with litmus paper the saliva and urine pH can open a window into the body’s acid-alkaline balance. If your saliva and urine pH is less than 6.6, your body is probably acidic. In my practice, I can see many positive changes in people’s digestive health after normalizing the acid-alkaline balance in the body.

An alkaline natural diet is healthy, especially for a person with chronic pancreatitis. I described this in detail, in a book. The worst enemy for an inflamed pancreas is alcohol. Please, don’t prove it on yourself. There are no good and safe doses of alcohol for people with chronic pancreatitis.

Seventy percent of pancreatitis is related to alcohol consumption because the alcohol is a toxic, acidic substance that activates digestive enzymes within the pancreas. Any upper abdominal pain, especially after drinking alcohol, can be very suspicious of a mild attack of pancreatitis; therefore it needs a medical evaluation. Once pancreatitis has been diagnosed, maintaining the correct, slightly alkaline acid-alkaline balance is not a luxury. It is essential.
