Teen bed wetting is common among teens. Many times even a 14 year old child may start experiencing a wet bed at night. This problem of being unable to control urination during sleep is scientifically known as enuresis. In most cases, teen wetting is more common in boys than the girls.
Enuresis can be categorized into two main types: primary and secondary. A person who had a primary nocturnal enuresis had a persistent involuntary urination during asleep, ever since they were a baby. A person with this condition may never experience a dry night.
While in secondary nocturnal enuresis, the problem only develops after several months or even several years after she or he grows from being a baby. Secondary nocturnal enuresis is the main reason, in most cases of teen bedwetting.
It has different factors according to its type. For primary nocturnal enuresis the most common reasons for teen night time wetting are genetic predisposition. This means you’re parents had a similar problem as a child; and you just simply inherit it from your parents.
In most cases of primary nocturnal enuresis, sleeping disorders or deep sleeping habits is also identified as one of the reasons that teens wet the bed at night.
Stress during teenage years is strongly suspected to cause secondary nocturnal enuresis. Teen wetting is also related to psychological problems. Also having a urinary tract infection can cause you to have a secondary nocturnal enuresis episode.
Enuresis patients are advised to reduce their intake of fluids before going to bed to prevent a swarming bladder. They are also advised to go to the toilet before going to bed to reduce the chance of wetting the bed.
A bed wetting person is not lazy or undisciplined. These persons are just encountering some problem in their body that needs to be treated by a physician. Most of the teens with this kind of problem will eventually out grow this condition in time.
Physician can treat enuresis; treatment may vary depending on the cause of bed wetting. Sometimes, there are also behavioral approaches that can be used in the treatment of bed wetting.
In some cases, treatment of teen bed wetting is a combined process of mild medication, behavioral modifications and reducing mental tensions which helps a person control their bed wetting.
