Dos and Don’ts While Shopping Baby Clothes
Little Infants are the most adorable and lovable creatures in the whole wide world. Babies have 5x more sensitive skin than adults, so they also need extra care with any expected clothing or baby products we use on them. If you’re confused about what to buy for your new born baby, don’t be shy or worried because there are plenty of parents out there like you.
Many first-time parents are confused when it comes to shopping for clothes for their baby. From my experience, I can tell you that shopping for clothes for these little adorable babies is a very exciting task. From my experience of raising 2 children, I would like to share some dos and don’ts when buying clothes for your baby.
do it
1. Prefer fabric:-
Various substances are available in the market for sensitive baby skin. Always keep in mind that baby’s skin is much more sensitive than you can imagine, so parents must look for a soft, smooth and skin-friendly fabric. You can turn the towel inside out and feel the softness of your hands. Babies get rashes easily, so try to avoid rough and scratchy things that can damage baby’s delicate skin. So cotton is the best choice. Cotton fabric shrinks 10% after the first wash; buy 1 or two sizes ahead of your actual child size.
2. Comfortable clothes will give you a happy baby:-
Always buy comfortable clothes for your child. Avoid harsh stains on clothes. Don’t look for any collar or a soft collar top. The collar and patches make the fabric adorable, but it is not comfortable for the baby, it can cause a rash on the baby’s neck. After just 5 minutes, you will regret putting it on your beautiful baby’s body. Make sure the fabric you buy has enough room to fit the baby’s head; pulling a tight cervical cloth over a newborn’s head can harm him in many ways.
3. Shop clothes according to the weather:-
Always buy clothes that are suitable for your child according to different weather conditions. For the winter season, consider a one-piece outfit that will even keep baby’s feet warm. Avoid anything like bars around the child’s waist and makes them comfortable. Don’t buy jeans or trousers, even if they look fashionable, because they are not comfortable. For the summer season, look for a cotton top with an open neckline and soft shorts. Buy those cloths that can protect them from heat.
4. Save money:-
Don’t buy exact size clothes for babies always go 1 or 2 sizes up from their actual size, this is because babies grow fast and some fabrics shrink by 10% after the first wash. Some stores sell clothes at lower prices, when you buy them in sets, it does not mean that you will buy all the clothes for summer only. If your baby is 8 months old, also buy baby clothes for 14-18 months. You can even sell your old used baby clothes on various websites online.
No
1. Avoid choking hazards:-
Always avoid clothes with excess buttons and zippers, your precious baby may accidentally swallow them, and always look for a loose button and broken zipper on the baby cloth from time to time if you fix any or replace the cloth. In the summer, buy baby t-shirts with an open neck, and in the winter, buy one-piece clothes without buttons on the sleeves.
2. Don’t buy expensive fashion clothes:-
Never buy expensive clothes for your baby, there are two reasons. The first is that children grow faster, so soon these expensive clothes will not be worth anything. Summer clothes are useless in winter and vice versa. The second most important reason is that fashionable clothes are not comfortable for babies, they have patches, zippers, buttons and many others that can irritate the baby’s skin, even causing red spots.
3. Don’t buy tight elastic :-
Try to avoid tight elastic pants, jeans and t-shirt sleeves. Tight elastic can make babies very uncomfortable and can even scratch the part of the body where the elastic rubs. Always look for shorts or pants with mild or no stretch. Always consider skin-friendly clothing for small toddlers.
Few tips for parents to consider:-
- Buy soft colors for newborns.
- Choose a fabric that does not cause any breathing problems for the baby.
- Try to find the cause, if the child is constantly crying, the clothes could be bothering him.
- Don’t buy tight clothes, always look for a size slightly larger than the baby’s actual size.
- Choose clothes that are easy to put on and take off.
- Children’s gloves and socks must be extra soft. Pay extra attention to your baby’s neck, arms, legs and waist.
- If fashion appeals to you, go for it, but stay in the child’s comfort zone.
- If there is a sale, don’t buy clothes in bulk for one season, think smart
