Barber Shop: Their Own Style of Comedy

If you look at the list of movies and TV shows released in the United States and those that have been successful, you will find that comedy dominates the list. Barber Shop was a very popular series for its star Ice Cube, who has a number of other comic book successes under his belt. It takes place in a barber shop on the South Side of Chicago. The first film introduced Calvin (Ice Cube) who inherited his father’s barber shop, a cornerstone of life in America at the time. He only discovers the true value of his inheritance after he sells it, as he realizes that it is a place where the people of the community come together.

The second Barber Shop movie took the same premise and setting and some of the same characters and tackled a new set of challenges. In this film, the antagonists were city developers who were trying to end all mom and pop businesses for the branded world. Ice Cube was joined by Queen Latifah in this film, although Anthony Anderson (who was most recently seen in the hit TV series Blackish), who was in the first, sat out this film.

He will return in the comedy film Barber Shop: The Next Cut, reprising his role as JD This one Nicki Minaj too. The story is about increasing violence and crime in the neighborhood of a barber shop. Calvin and the rest of the crew decide to deal with it their own way.

Will this be the last film in the series? It’s hard to say because the previous movie came out ten years before this one. Although there are no plans for a sequel, a remake may appear a decade later.
