The Last of Us (Remastered) Review

The Last of Us is tremendous to say the least. It’s an unforgettable masterpiece of a game with a truly beautiful setting that portrays hopelessness in a way unlike any other. The world is filled with an overabundance of plants, detailed walls and streets, and amazing character design. The presentation is captivating. He grabs your arms and pulls you to the edge of the seat.

Naughty Dog didn’t disappoint with arguably the best game they’ve made, and that’s saying a lot. If Uncharted 2 set the bar, The Last of Us jumped six feet. The Last of Us was a fire that burns and will burn as long as there is one little spark. The Last of Us had high expectations starting with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, but in that time we gamers have had the chance to see Naughty Dog evolve and grow. And we’re very glad they did.

This game tells the story at its best as Neil Drukkman and Bruce Stratley took control of this project. The less you know about this game, the better. I wouldn’t even watch the trailers if I were you. In short, a man is hired to deliver a package to the Fireflies, a group of survivors who are trying to change the world. However, the package is a girl. Joel and Ellie must take a trip across the country so that Ellie can be delivered to the Fireflies. That’s all I can say about the story.

Last but not least, the gameplay is also amazing. It can be difficult and sometimes frustrating, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s all worth it. You, as the player, want to go through hell just to see the conversation between Joel and Ellie. The shooting mechanics are great, as are the hide-and-seek and cat-and-mouse tactics. Health is difficult to obtain because you have to get the materials needed to create a health kit. However, everything is real-time, so you can’t find yourself in the middle of bullets penetrating your body to stop the action and use your health pack. You have to find cover or the enemies won’t see you. Enemies now include terrifying clickers (blind but hearing infected), runners (fast but deaf infected), humans and more. To sum up, The Last of Us is a must buy. I would recommend it to everyone I know.
