Baby Bottle Cleaning – Clean the White Spots in the Bottom of the Bottle Without Scrubbing

Cleaning a baby bottle is not the easiest without the right bottle brush. It’s a simpler process than years ago when everything had to be sterilized. Boil the bottle, boil the nipple, then boil the water you use to make the formula.

Now you just have to choose the best bottle brush and wash. However, none of them seem to work very well for the background. One thing you can never seem to get rid of are those little white spots on the bottom of the bottle. They are a build-up of sugars in the formula that stick to the plastic of the bottle. No matter how hard you try to clean them or how many times you clean them, they just seem to pop up.

I had this same problem with my first baby and was so embarrassed when a friend of mine mentioned it. She said, “See those little white spots on the bottom of your baby’s bottle?” while my face turned red from humiliation. She went on to inform me that if I put a couple of drops of bleach in the bottle and then fill it with water, it would be gone by morning. I tried it that night and it worked great.

I’m not sure what effect these little white spots have on our little babies and probably never will. They’re probably harmless since my first baby never seemed to have any problems, but I sure felt better after finding this great cleaning tip. I always check baby bottles to see if they are free of white spots and have shared this tip with many moms.
