This guide separates verified game systems from practical recommendations. Farming advice is situational rather than a guaranteed best build, because map layouts, modes, co-op income sharing, and balance updates affect results.

The answer before the background

Our recommendation

For reliable in-match income, start a Banana Farm as soon as your defense can survive without it, then reinvest the extra cash into additional farms or a higher farm tier. Use top-path farms for strong round-by-round production, middle-path farms when you need stored cash or an ability burst, and bottom-path farms when you want easier collection and a late-game cash engine. For account resources, finish uncompleted map medals, claim daily rewards, complete achievements, and play rotating events. BTD6 does not officially have coins, gems, crystals, or diamonds; players usually mean cash or Monkey Money when using those terms.

What resources actually exist?

The most important resource is in-match cash. You spend it on towers, upgrades, and some abilities, and you earn it from popping Bloons, completing rounds, and income-generating towers or abilities. Cash resets when you start a new match, so it is not an account balance.

Monkey Money is the main persistent spendable currency. It is used for selected Heroes and skins, powers, continues, race re-entries, and other account or event features. The most dependable free sources are first-time map and mode completions, achievements, daily rewards, and event activities.

Trophies are a separate account resource used in the Trophy Store. They are primarily for cosmetic customization, including items for monkeys, Bloons, animations, music, and profiles. They are not a substitute for cash or Monkey Money.

Monkey Knowledge points, tower XP, Insta-Monkeys, and event rewards are progression systems rather than interchangeable currencies. Tower XP unlocks upgrades for a tower, while account-level progression unlocks broader features and Monkey Knowledge.

  • “Coins” usually means in-match cash or Monkey Money in player discussions.
  • BTD6 has no verified base-game currency called crystals, diamonds, or gems.
  • A Golden Bloon is a special Bloon encounter, not a gold currency. Popping it can provide a small reward, but it is not a general-purpose gold farm.
  • Jungle Drums improves attack speed for towers in its range. It does not turn a Banana Farm into a special currency generator.

Terminology check

If a guide promises a separate gem, crystal, or diamond route for the standard BTD6 game, treat it cautiously. Those names may belong to another Bloons title, a third-party guide, or informal player terminology.

How to build a repeatable cash loop

The basic loop is simple: survive with the cheapest defense that safely handles the next danger, place a farm, collect or bank its income, and reinvest the profit. A farm is an investment, so placing one too early can lose a run if the next round overwhelms your defense.

Top-path Banana Farms focus on production and eventually provide a powerful round-by-round income engine. They suit players who want predictable cash and have enough space or collection support. Middle-path farms store money and provide active abilities, making them useful when you need a timed burst for a major upgrade or Boss event. Bottom-path farms emphasize easier collection and become especially convenient when you want less manual pickup.

Do not judge a farm only by its displayed income. Include its purchase price, the time required to repay that price, the defense you delayed, and the value of the space it occupies. On short games, a farm may not repay itself before the finish. On Boss events or long Freeplay runs, early investment has much more time to compound.

Other income routes can complement farms. Merchantmen and higher Buccaneer upgrades, Supply Drop and Elite Defender on the Sniper path, Druid cash abilities, Alchemist gold conversion, and Engineer traps can all produce cash under the right conditions. Their value depends heavily on the Bloon flow and whether you can keep the tower active without weakening your defense.

  • Start with one affordable farm after your opening defense is stable.
  • Add income before expensive damage upgrades when the next threat is already covered.
  • Use a bank or cash ability before a planned high-cost purchase rather than spending the reserve immediately.
  • In co-op, agree who is farming and who is covering defense so multiple players do not sacrifice early survival at once.
  • Stop expanding farms when the match is ending or when the extra space is more valuable for defense.

Best farm is mode-dependent

There is no single best gold farm for every map. A strong recommendation must account for difficulty, cash settings, available space, collection effort, and the round at which you plan to finish.

Farming Monkey Money, XP, and trophies

The fastest legitimate account progression is usually completion rather than repetition. Prioritize map medals and modes you have not completed, because first-time rewards are more valuable than repeatedly replaying a finished map. Achievements, daily rewards, Odysseys, Races, Boss events, Contested Territory, and other rotating activities add smaller or situational payouts.

For tower XP, use the tower you want to unlock in ordinary matches and place it early enough to receive meaningful experience. XP is tied to tower use and game progression, not to a universal bank that can be converted between monkeys. A dedicated XP farm can be as simple as repeatedly playing a comfortable map while keeping the target tower active, but it is rarely worth weakening a winning defense just to place more copies.

Trophies and Insta-Monkeys are best treated as event and completion rewards. Check the current event panel, Odyssey rewards, achievements, and collection screens rather than assuming that an old farming route still pays the same amount.

  • Finish new map medals before grinding a completed map.
  • Claim daily rewards consistently instead of relying on one long session.
  • Use a safe, repeatable map for tower XP and bring the tower you actually want to level.
  • Check event rules before spending Monkey Money on retries or continues.
  • Do not expect cash, Monkey Money, XP, and trophies to convert into one another.

Common mistakes and outdated advice

A Banana Farm produces match cash, not Monkey Money. It cannot directly fund Hero purchases, Trophy Store items, or account unlocks after the match ends.

Jungle Drums is a support upgrade for attack speed, not a direct farm multiplier. If a setup recommends it near farms, the reason is usually broader tower support rather than extra bananas.

Golden Bloons can appear during eligible play and may provide a small reward when popped, but they are not a dependable replacement for map completion or a normal farming strategy.

Mode restrictions matter. CHIMPS removes income and several other systems, while Deflation changes the normal cash loop. Challenge, event, and console rules can also differ from standard games, so verify the mode description before following a farming route.

  • Do not spend Monkey Money on continues while trying to maximize long-term account income unless the run is worth saving.
  • Do not copy a farm path from a Boss guide into a short standard game without checking its payback time.
  • Do not trust fixed income numbers from old guides without checking the current patch and difficulty.
  • Do not confuse the standard game with Bloons spin-offs that use different currencies.

Common questions

How do you get coins in BTD6?

There is no official account currency named coins in standard BTD6. If you mean match cash, earn it from popping Bloons, completing rounds, Banana Farms, and other cash-generating towers. If you mean Monkey Money, complete map medals, achievements, daily rewards, and events.

What is the best Banana Farm path?

It depends on the match. Top path is a strong predictable production route, middle path gives stored cash and active abilities, and bottom path favors collection convenience and late-game income. The best choice changes with map space, mode, micro tolerance, and your planned finish round.

How do you get diamonds, gems, or crystals?

Those are not verified currencies in the standard BTD6 economy. Use the in-game labels to identify whether a guide actually means cash, Monkey Money, trophies, or another reward system.

Is there a good farming strategy for Monkey Money?

Prioritize uncompleted map and mode medals, then achievements and available events. Repeating a completed activity can still pay, but first-time completion rewards are generally the more dependable target. Daily rewards are also worth claiming.

How do you farm tower XP?

Play a comfortable map and use the tower you want to unlock throughout the match. Place it early enough to earn experience, but do not compromise survival by filling the map with weak copies. XP is earned by the relevant tower and cannot be freely transferred between tower types.
