Run structure

Shape the route before trying to maximize damage.

SystemWhat it changesGood first questionCommon mistake
Path tilesThe enemy route and available building edgesWhere can the route bend without opening a dangerous shortcut?Adding length without preserving useful firing coverage.
Faction buildingsDamage roles, support, economy, and synergiesWhich small core handles the current enemy mix?Spreading resources across every unlocked blueprint.
PitsSpecial rewards or encounters formed from enclosed dead endsCan this dead end close completely without touching an entry?Leaving one legal tile connection and expecting a pit.
DoctrinesRun modifiers and building specializationWhich doctrine strengthens the plan already on the board?Choosing a high-tier effect with no supporting build.
Discovery / CodexNeutral-building access and permanent reference knowledgeWhat new information or option will this choice reveal?Treating the Codex as a live damage upgrade by itself.

First victories

Five decisions that make the board easier to read.

  1. 1

Read the terrain and entry points before placing the first path segment; every later tower depends on that shape.

  2. 2

Build a small role-balanced core instead of buying one of every blueprint.

  3. 3

Create a pit only when the enclosed branch does not weaken the main kill zone.

  4. 4

Use doctrines to deepen the current strategy; do not pivot the entire run for one attractive card.

  5. 5

Check the patch number when following a build, because Endless scaling, pits, and balance changed after launch.

How we verify recommendations

Release dates, platforms, and patch notes come from official storefronts and developer news. Wiki mechanics are community-maintained and are labeled as such; the live build remains the final authority when a rule changes.

Bosses and encounter conditions

Learn how bosses appear, what counters them, and what rewards to expect.

Boss encounters are tied to escalating waves rather than fixed story stages. Build a long kill zone, cover air and camouflage, and treat splitters as a priority. Boss-specific loot is not reliably documented, so plan around normal wave rewards and supply.

Builds, classes and routes

Build a stable defense while choosing commanders, skills and weapons wisely.

Use a compact early defense, raise key towers onto height 2 or 3, and invest in upgrades before adding variety. The best route changes by faction, commander, enemy composition and blueprint luck.
