No special warning. Some recommendations depend on your permit, Eggs of Prophecy, Epic Research, ship progress, and whether you are playing solo, in a contract, or on Enlightenment Egg.
Fast answer
The answer before the background
Use the Hall of Artifacts to equip up to two items by default, or up to four with the Pro Permit. Send spaceships for equipment, ingredients, and stone fragments, then craft higher tiers when you have a clear target. The main equipment families cover earnings, egg-laying, shipping, hatchery rate, boost duration, prestige gains, contracts, drone rewards, Enlightenment, and vehicle capacity. Keep your strongest useful items, protect components needed for important crafts, and consume surplus common equipment only after checking its crafting role.
Verified basics
What items and equipment do
The Hall of Artifacts is the central inventory for three related item groups: artifacts, Eggfinity Stones, and ingredients. Artifacts provide a permanent effect while equipped. Stones go into artifact sockets to add another effect, while ingredients are mainly used for crafting.
Every artifact has a tier, a rarity, and a number of sockets. Tier describes the item’s base progression, while rarity improves its performance and usually adds sockets. Common, rare, epic, and legendary versions are the usual rarity classes, although not every rarity exists for every tier and item.
Most artifacts are grouped by the job they perform rather than by a universal power ranking. A Chalice is useful for internal hatchery rate, a Quantum Metronome improves egg-laying rate, and an Interstellar Compass improves shipping. The best choice therefore depends on the task in front of you.
- Prestige and earnings: Phoenix Feather, Mercury’s Lens, Neodymium Medallion, Aurelian Brooch, Demeter’s Necklace, Tungsten Ankh, and Book of Basan.
- Farm production: Chalice, Quantum Metronome, Gusset, and Vial of Martian Dust.
- Contracts and co-op support: Tachyon Deflector, Ship in a Bottle, Quantum Metronome, Gusset, and Interstellar Compass.
- Boosts and special farms: Dilithium Monocle and Light of Eggendil.
- Drone and cash farming: Aurelian Brooch, Beak of Midas, Carved Rainstick, Mercury’s Lens, and Neodymium Medallion.
- Specialized or situational items: Puzzle Cube, Titanium Actuator, Lunar Totem, and the Enlightenment-focused Light of Eggendil.
| Equipment family | Primary use | Typical reason to equip it |
|---|---|---|
| Phoenix Feather | Soul egg and prestige gain | Use during a prestige when your earnings and chicken count are already high. |
| Chalice | Internal hatchery rate | Use while building population or running a long offline hatchery period. |
| Quantum Metronome | Egg-laying rate | Use when laying speed is the production bottleneck. |
| Interstellar Compass | Shipping rate | Use when vehicles cannot keep up with egg production. |
| Tachyon Deflector | Co-op teammates’ laying rate | Equip in contracts to improve other members’ production. |
| Ship in a Bottle | Contract or ship-related support | Use in contract builds where its team or shipping effect is relevant. |
| Gusset | Habitat capacity | Use when more chickens are valuable or a contract build needs extra population. |
| Light of Eggendil | Enlightenment Egg value | Use on Enlightenment farms; its behavior is specialized and not a general-purpose replacement. |
The item families and broad effects are documented by the game’s current reference data. The suggested sets are recommendations, not universal rules. Compare your actual bottleneck, available sockets, stones, permit, and contract role before swapping equipment.
How to obtain them
Ships, crafting, and item progression
Spaceship missions launched through Mission Control are the main acquisition route. Missions can return artifacts, ingredients, and stone fragments. Later ships generally provide access to better-quality results, while earlier ships can remain useful when you specifically need basic materials for crafting.
The Hall of Artifacts is also a crafting station. Select an item to see its required components and Golden Egg cost. Crafting can produce a higher-tier item and gives crafting experience; crafted artifacts can also roll as rare, epic, or legendary. The game’s Smart Crafting feature can identify intermediate items that can be made automatically from your inventory, but it does not make intermediate crafts shiny for you.
Current reference tables list the Gilded Book of Basan, Light of Eggendil, and top-tier Tachyon Deflector among items that are craft-focused rather than normal ship targets. Other high-end artifacts may be obtainable from advanced ships, depending on the item and current mission pool. Treat exact availability as version-sensitive and check your own ship screen before spending materials.
Eggfinity Stones are separate from artifacts. Stone fragments must be combined into usable higher-tier stones, then inserted into open sockets. A common artifact with excellent stones can outperform a shinier artifact with poor or empty sockets, especially for a narrow job such as shipping or boost duration.
- Send the best ship available when you want quality, but use earlier ships when you need low-tier ingredients.
- Craft toward a specific build instead of making random upgrades merely because the button is available.
- Check whether a desired item is a component for another craft before consuming it.
- Use crafting discounts and crafting events when available, but do not spend Golden Eggs solely to chase a rarity you do not need yet.
| Progression term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Tier | The item’s base level, commonly progressing from T1 toward T4. |
| Rarity | Common, rare, epic, or legendary quality that improves the item and can add sockets. |
| Socket | An opening for an Eggfinity Stone. |
| Ingredient | A crafting material such as gold, titanium, or geodes. |
| Stone fragment | A low-level material used to craft a usable Eggfinity Stone. |
| Crafting level | A progression measure increased by crafting and associated with better crafting outcomes over time. |
Public reference tables are useful for planning, but they are not an official complete drop-rate guarantee. The game can change ship pools, costs, item effects, or crafting rules without matching older community tables.
Practical builds
Which equipment to use for common jobs
For a normal prestige, prioritize the best Phoenix Feather you own, then add items that improve earnings or egg value. Mercury’s Lens, Neodymium Medallion, Aurelian Brooch, Demeter’s Necklace, and Tungsten Ankh can all be relevant, but the ideal combination depends on whether your limiting factor is earnings, chicken population, or running-chicken income.
For a contract, first decide whether the team needs more eggs laid, more shipping capacity, or more habitat space. A Tachyon Deflector helps other co-op members rather than directly increasing your own laying rate, so it is a team contribution. A Quantum Metronome and Gusset help your own production, while an Interstellar Compass becomes valuable when shipping is the bottleneck.
For boost preparation, a Dilithium Monocle is valuable because it increases the effectiveness of boosts that are multiplied by a Boost Beacon. It does not improve every boost in the game, so read the item description rather than assuming that every boost benefits equally.
For Enlightenment, compatibility matters more than ordinary farm strength. The Light of Eggendil is designed for that egg, and other artifacts may require Clarity Stones to function there. Stones placed in a Light of Eggendil have special Enlightenment behavior, so do not judge them by their performance on ordinary farms.
For drone farming, separate reward value from reward type. Aurelian Brooch improves drone rewards, while Beak of Midas and Carved Rainstick affect reward behavior. The Rainstick has documented behavior that does not always match its displayed description, so treat it as a specialized choice rather than an automatic upgrade.
- Use the artifact whose effect matches the current bottleneck, not simply the highest tier in your inventory.
- Inspect stone effects as part of the whole set; sockets can change the best choice.
- In contracts, coordinate with teammates because multiple support artifacts can change the team’s total output.
- Keep a separate Enlightenment set if you are attempting a serious trophy or challenge.
| Situation | First equipment to compare | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Prestige | Phoenix Feather and earnings artifacts | Whether population, egg value, or running chickens limit soul egg gain. |
| Contract production | Tachyon Deflector, Quantum Metronome, Gusset | Whether the team needs your support or your own farm output. |
| Shipping bottleneck | Interstellar Compass and shipping stones | Whether egg-laying has already exceeded vehicle capacity. |
| Boosted earnings | Dilithium Monocle and boost-duration stones | Whether the chosen boosts are affected by a Boost Beacon. |
| Enlightenment | Light of Eggendil and Clarity Stones | Farm compatibility and the exact effect of each slotted stone. |
| Drone farming | Aurelian Brooch, Beak of Midas, or Rainstick | Whether you want larger rewards, more Golden Egg outcomes, or more cash outcomes. |
Make named loadouts mentally, even if you change them manually: prestige, contract production, shipping, boost preparation, drone farming, and Enlightenment. This avoids consuming a useful item simply because it is not part of your current set.
Inventory management
Which items to consume or craft
Consuming an item destroys it in exchange for the displayed return, which may include Golden Eggs or stone fragments. The consume function is available from the item view in the Hall of Artifacts, and bulk consumption can remove many ordinary copies at once. Because consumption is irreversible, treat the displayed return as a convenience, not proof that the item is disposable.
A safe rule is to keep every legendary artifact, keep useful shiny items with open sockets, and retain enough lower-tier components for crafts you are actively pursuing. Common duplicates that are not needed for a set or recipe are the best starting point for cleanup. Be especially careful with high-tier common items: they may look weak but can still be required as craft inputs.
Do not automatically consume artifacts just because a higher-tier version exists. A lower-tier rare or epic item with strong stones can be better for a specific build than an empty common T4. Also remember that artifacts equipped on another farm may be marked as in use, and an item can be useful even when its effect is inactive on the current farm.
- Before consuming, check the item’s craft recipe and whether it is equipped anywhere.
- Keep at least one practical copy of each artifact family until you understand your regular builds.
- Prefer consuming surplus common items over rare, epic, or legendary items.
- Do not dismantle a socketed item until you have removed or accounted for its stones.
- Use the game’s displayed consumption value, because old spreadsheets may not reflect later changes to ingredient consumption.
| Usually safer to consume first | Usually safer to keep |
|---|---|
| Duplicate common T1 items with no sockets | Legendary artifacts |
| Extra low-value ingredients after checking recipes | Rare or epic artifacts with useful sockets |
| Unneeded stone fragments beyond current plans | Items needed for a target craft |
| Common duplicates that never appear in your sets | Specialized Enlightenment or contract equipment |
Auxbrain announced a change stating that consuming artifact ingredients such as stone fragments, gold, titanium, and geodes no longer returns Golden Eggs and instead contributes to uncapped Piggy fill. Check the in-game result before bulk-consuming materials.
FAQ
Common questions
How many artifacts can I equip at once?
The standard limit is two equipped artifacts. The Pro Permit raises the limit to four. Each artifact can only be active on one farm at a time, although duplicate copies can be used on different farms.
Are legendary artifacts always the best choice?
No. Legendary items usually have excellent base effects and sockets, but a lower-tier rare or epic item with better stones can be stronger for a specific task. Compare the complete artifact-and-stone combination.
What should I craft first?
Craft toward a role you use often. For many players that means a prestige item, contract support, or a missing shipping or hatchery piece. High-end craft recommendations vary with your inventory and ship access, so use the recipe screen and avoid spending materials needed elsewhere.
Can I get every item from spaceships?
No. Ships provide many artifacts, stones, and ingredients, but current reference tables identify some high-end items as craft-focused. The available pool also depends on the ship and its quality range.
Should I consume all extra T4 common artifacts?
Not automatically. Some are useful as craft ingredients, some fill a niche, and some may be needed while you wait for a shiny version. Check recipes, equipped sets, sockets, and your next crafting goal first.
