Names and availability can change with live events. Some older community lists omit newer units or use alternate names, so treat the categorized roster as a practical reference rather than a guaranteed permanent in-game inventory.
Fast answer
The answer before the background
The roster is divided into Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Special, Mythical, Pirate Cat, and Zodiac groups. Most regular units are obtained with Summoning Orbs or Gems. Mythicals require the active Mythical banner and Mythical Gems, while Special units use event Summoning Stones. Slime King and Deathbite are notable stage unlocks from The Joint Revenge, and Pirate Cats come from their campaign before entering the regular summon pool. Build around one damage dealer, then add speed, damage buffs, crowd control, and elemental coverage instead of leveling every unit evenly.
Roster
All major character groups
The in-game collection is broader than a simple hero list. Units have rarity, element, attack range, attack speed, and a special ability, so rarity alone does not determine usefulness. A cheap support unit can remain valuable long after a higher-rarity attacker is replaced.
The following roster reflects the names most consistently documented in current and recent references. Newer additions such as Medjed and Chillplume are included as Special units; some live-service additions may not yet appear in every older list.
- Common: Slimey, Clyde, Grimey, Sparky, Flamey, Icy, and Mr. Flamey where the current client uses that naming.
- Rare: Stacky, Mocha, Rocky, Spidey, Spiky, Cappuccino, Fury, Jack, ZugZug, and Skellington.
- Epic: Devon, Teddy, Speedy, Mighty, Yeti, Pyro, Chilly, Sluggy, Infernus, and The King's Consort.
- Legendary: Frostbite, Ash, Puffy, Lightning, Felina, Kevin, Orc Hunter, Kingslayer, Chef Teddy, Icarus, Master Bao, Deep One, Segway, Slime King, Deathbite, and the three Archangels.
- Special: Darkwing, Chronus, Rudolph, Hellhound, Pony Sparks, Mummy King, Crispy, Archimedes, Archangel Gabriel, Limzard, Monke, Cheebs, Poundfoolish, HolidayJack, Booyah, Igniteo, Fluffvolt, Kayeffcee, Icicleo, Sea Angel Michael, Polarpuff, Ifrit, Arch Arch, Chillplume, and Medjed.
- Mythical: Zeus, Hades, Poseidon, Artemis, Horus, Anubis, Ra, Bastet, Osiris, Amaterasu, Susanoo, Jiraiya, Hanzo, Cutethulhu, Shupnikkurat, The King in Yellow, Draco Crimson Bordir, Draco Azure Tyrvoid, Draco Indigo Bylle, Draco Emerald Dirvy, Kraken, Siren, Moby, Thor, Loki, Odin, Onmyouji, Miko, Byakko, Genbu, Garuda, Asura, Brahma, and newer pantheon additions documented by the current client.
- Pirate Cats: Stinky Longbeard, Pirate McPirateface, Tuna Breath Timmy, Pegleg McScurvy, Patchy One Eye, Rusty Hook Rackham, Black Whiskers, Captain O'Hair, and Calico Cat.
- Zodiac and event-only names may be displayed separately from the main rarity filters. Check the collection screen before assuming an older list is complete.
Current references do not agree perfectly on naming, rarity, or whether a newly added unit belongs to the permanent pool. When the game client and an older wiki disagree, use the client’s collection screen and the current event banner as the final authority.
Roles
What to build first
A useful formation usually has one carry, one or two amplifiers, and control or utility around them. Do not spread gold across nine units simply because all nine slots are available.
Speedy improves attack speed and is one of the best early support investments. Mighty increases damage and is the usual partner for a main attacker. Hellhound is a high-value Special support when its event is available. Slime King offers global crowd control and damage, while Kevin is a strong direct attacker for players who have him.
For progression, place the carry where it reaches the most targets, keep buffers close enough to affect it, and reserve stun or freeze units for stages where enemy movement is the real problem. Elemental stages can make a normally strong unit less suitable, so maintain at least one credible Fire, Ice, Lightning, and non-elemental option as your account develops.
- Damage dealers: Kevin, Infernus, Devon, many Mythicals, and strong elemental attackers.
- Attack-speed or damage support: Speedy, Mighty, Hellhound, and selected Mythicals.
- Crowd control: Slime King, Anubis, Frostbite, Ash, Lightning, and other stun or freeze specialists.
- Map or mode specialists: Pirate Cats, elemental Mythicals, and event units designed around a particular campaign.
- Budget advice: level one reliable carry and the supports that multiply it before investing in expensive units such as Felina or the Archangels.
The best unit depends on the map, damage cap, elemental rules, charms, evolution, and star level. The roles above are safer general guidance than a single permanent ranking.
Unlocks
How to obtain and upgrade characters
Regular Common-to-Legendary summons use Summoning Orbs, while the Epic-to-Legendary summon uses Gems. Duplicate summons increase a unit’s star tier rather than creating a second battlefield copy. After a unit reaches the top star tier, further duplicates provide currency instead.
Mythicals use Mythical Gems and are restricted by the currently active pantheon or banner. A Super Mythical Gem is the direct-choice route when available. Mythical banners rotate, so saving currency for a specific pantheon is usually better than spending immediately on an unwanted one.
Special units use their own Summoning Stones during limited events. Stones are tied to the relevant event unit and can normally be spent when that unit returns. Pirate Cats are first unlocked through the Pirate Cats campaign, after which their summon and upgrade systems become relevant.
Slime King is associated with clearing The Joint Revenge on Normal, and Deathbite with the Hard version in the established progression references. Confirm the reward screen in your client because stage rewards and unlock requirements can be adjusted by updates.
- Save Mythical Gems until the pantheon containing your target unit is active.
- Use Super Mythical Gems for a guaranteed choice rather than gambling on a low Mythical chance.
- Do not discard duplicates; they advance stars or convert to post-max rewards.
- Farm the stage, event, or campaign connected to a locked unit instead of assuming every character is in the ordinary portal.
| Acquisition route | Typical units | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Summoning Orbs | Common through Legendary and some Pirate Cats | The available pool depends on previously unlocked content. |
| Gems | Epic, Legendary, and some Pirate Cats | Useful for targeted rarity bands, not a guaranteed named unit. |
| Mythical Gems | Active Mythical banner | Only the current pantheon is normally available. |
| Special Summoning Stones | Special event units | Availability follows the live event or rotation. |
| Stage or campaign completion | Slime King, Deathbite, Pirate Cats, and other mode rewards | The unlock condition is tied to specific content. |
Controls
Changing or removing a monster
To change the lineup, open the formation or map setup before beginning a run, tap the occupied slot, and select another unit. To remove a unit, clear that slot in the same setup screen if the current mode permits an empty position.
During an active wave, the normal formation is not freely editable. Finish, restart, or return to the map-selection point, then make the change before launching again. This is why the game can appear to have no remove button while a run is in progress.
Keep separate setups for ordinary maps, elemental challenges, farming stages, and event modes. A formation that clears a normal map may fail when enemies resist an element or when the mode limits which units can participate.
- Change the team before pressing the button that starts the map.
- Use a restart or map-selection screen if the lineup is locked during combat.
- Save the highest-investment units for formations where their element and skill are useful.
- Do not sell or permanently delete a character merely because it is removed from a slot; removing it from the formation does not erase the unit.
Rotation
Mythical and Special availability
Mythical availability is organized around pantheons, while Special units appear through event-specific Summoning Stones. The exact order and timing can change when developers add a new pantheon or event, so an old weekly schedule should not be treated as a permanent calendar.
The practical method is simple: check the active banner in the summon screen, read the timer, and compare it with the in-game event panel. If the target is absent, keep the currency rather than spending it on an unrelated pool. The official community server is also a useful place to verify announcements, but the client banner remains the final source for what can be summoned on your account.
Recent store and guide references show that new Special and Mythical characters continue to be added. That makes a static “all characters forever” list inherently vulnerable to becoming outdated.
- Mythical banner: use Mythical Gems only when the desired pantheon is active.
- Special rotation: collect the correct Summoning Stones and wait for the unit’s return if necessary.
- New additions: check patch notes, the store update history, and the live summon screen together.
- Zodiac and other event labels may not follow the same schedule as standard pantheons.
The existence of rotating Mythical and Special pools is well documented. A precise future rotation date is not stated here because live schedules can change and the available public references do not provide a dependable September 2026 calendar.
FAQ
Common questions
Who is the best early character to level?
Start with one carry and its supports. Speedy and Mighty are efficient investments, while Kevin, Infernus, Devon, or a strong early Legendary can serve as the main attacker. Slime King becomes especially valuable when global stun and control matter.
How do I get Mythical characters?
Use the Epic-to-Mythical summon with Mythical Gems while the desired pantheon is active. A Super Mythical Gem can provide a guaranteed choice when that option is available. Mythical units are not normally available from every regular summon at all times.
How do I get Special characters?
Wait for the relevant limited event and spend that unit’s Special Summoning Stones. Special units are tied to an event rotation, so the summon screen is the best way to confirm whether a target is currently available.
Can I remove a unit during a wave?
Usually not. Leave or restart the run, return to formation setup, and replace or clear the slot before starting again. Removing a unit from the formation does not delete it from your collection.
How do I unlock Slime King?
The established unlock route is clearing The Joint Revenge on Normal. Deathbite is associated with the Hard version. Check your current reward screen because progression requirements can change in live updates.
